Ingredients:
1 cup of orange juice (from the juice of 1 orange plus regular orange juice to equal 1 cup)
1 tablespoons soy sauce
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
1 tablespoons butter
1/2 cup granulated sugar
3 tablespoons cornstarch (plus 3 tablespoons water to create a slurry)
2 teaspoons orange zest
Directions:
1. In a small sauce pan on medium high heat. Add orange juice, soy sauce, red pepper flakes and butter until combined. Whisk in sugar. Once the orange juice mixture comes to a boil reduce heat to medium.
2. In a small cup, make a cornstarch slurry by stirring the 3 tablespoons of water and cornstarch until combined. Slowly pour the cornstarch slurry over the orange mixture, stirring constantly. Important to keep the mixture at a slow boil. If not slightly, increase heat a little at a time. Stir occasionally for 4 to 5 minutes until mixture is thick and slowly drips off the spoon. Remove pan from heat, stir in orange zest, then transfer pan to a wire rack to cool.
Note: Sauce will thicken over time. If sauce becomes too thick after cooking or refrigerating, just reheat and stir in 1 to 2 tablespoons of lukewarm water.
